Using a proxy server is something good specially once you are having problems in logging in directly in some sites like for example in Yahoo Messenger you can use prxy server like meebo and ebuddy. You can also use proxy servers to retain anonimous. Some people use proxy servers because they try to access a site that is not allowed like at their work place. Some people wants to access prohibited sites and they are being blocked. They use proxy servers in order to gain access.
