Internet Power Tool
Tuesday, May 27th, 2008Having a business online, getting it into SEO and doing all of the dirty work is a lot more than just making sure that you are out there. As I learn more and more about using the Internet and getting into search engines, I’ve also learned that there are layers of ways for you to get your name into the top of the list.
One of the ways that I have eliminated a large amount of headache and actually gotten my websites into some of the top areas is through Web CEO. I consider this a power tool of power tools. If I had enough money that I wanted to spend on SEO optimization through something, I would definitely buy it. However, this one is FREE and basically does the same thing.
So, if you have a website that isn’t optimized yet, you can use Web CEO for anything. Start with allowing it to find the popular keywords for you that you can plug into your website (META Tags). Then, you can automatically submit your site to all of the search engines… even the manual ones. Yep. It has everything consolidated in there. AND, it allows you to build links and partner options so that you can get in the same ranks as the big dogs….basically, it saves you hours of time.
And what I really love about this… it gives you statistics. Where you are ranked, how you are related to your competitors, etc, etc, etc. So, you know which page you are on and whether you are going up in the ranks or down. Something that will let you find what is missing so that you can grow with your business.
That’s not all it has. There is plenty more. For those that want the “more,” you can probably find it on the free version. Or, if you really want to go all out with your building of SEO, you can get into their paid version, which boosts up usability with it.
So, for small businesses and those trying to get to the top of the Internet… go for your power tools to get there.
Obu Web’s SEO Compatible Standard
Thursday, May 4th, 2006Obu Web has created a campaign for what they call the SEO Compatible Standard. This means that as a web designer you promise to make SEO friendly websites. Some of the standards are clean codes and robot friendly links.
Building websites using the SEO Compatible™ Standard can greatly enhance their rankings and placement. Search engines are smart and are ever updating their intelligence to gain better ethics in the placement of websites. The SEO Compatible™ Standard guidelines will evolve to meet the placement ethics that search engines follow.
If you are going to do all of this then feel free to show it from your website with one of their four SEO Compatible Standard buttons like the one below.
Beware The Scam!
Sunday, July 3rd, 2005While browsing news from the past week, I found an article written by Cari Haus on WebProNews.com, titled “The Biggest SEO Scam of All”. Intrigued, I decided to read, and here’s what I found:
Read the rest of the article here, and in her own words, “beware of any SEO firm that:
- employs a boiler room full of telemarketers
- automates most or all of their services
- insists on gaining and retaining control of the url to be promoted
- focuses on lengthy and obscure search strings
- touts sites that are garnering a mere 100 hits per day as examples of their success.”
Everyone who wishes to employ the services of a SEO firm can indeed benefit from this advice, as it can be easy to fall for such ploys.
Moreover, I especially agree with Cari Haus on the 100 hits bit. I can do that myself without even having worked extensively on promoting my website and not being a specialist at SEO tactics. This is indeed a ridiculous promise!
Don’t Mess with SEO Inc.
Wednesday, May 11th, 2005… unless you have the legal budget to back it up.
Google Blogoscoped reported how SEO Inc. dropped out of Google’s rankings for virtually every SEO-related term, including their company name.
SEO Inc. fired back with a cease & desist notice.
Some people / companies will never learn.
After sending the cease & desist, Boing Boing eventually picked up the story.
A tiny little weblog post on a not-so-widely-read blog suddenly gets BoingBoing’d after getting the lawyers involved, and probably tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of Boing Boing readers now have a negative impression of SEO Inc.
